Opening count: 2 positions. Location: Orlando area, Florida. Salary: $65,000–$85,000 per year. Employment: Full-time; anticipated opening pending project award.
About the opportunity
Florida Construction Talent is recruiting TWO construction safety professionals under the Safety Director title for a Florida construction management firm's anticipated municipal water/wastewater construction near Orlando. The initial approximately $20 million water treatment plant includes excavation, piping, concrete and tank work, mechanical equipment, electrical work, and commissioning. These are field-focused site-safety oversight positions: the employer is NOT seeking someone to create a new suite of safety manuals or design an entirely new company safety system. The focus is applying existing procedures, coaching crews, identifying hazards, correcting noncompliance, and keeping necessary records. The project award and final hiring schedule are pending.
Key responsibilities
- Implement and enforce established company and project-specific construction safety requirements.
- Conduct jobsite inspections, worker orientations, toolbox talks, and field safety observations.
- Review job hazard analyses and confirm appropriate permits, training, and competent-person coverage.
- Monitor subcontractor activities involving trenching and excavation, confined spaces, cranes, rigging, fall protection, hot work, electrical hazards, and lockout/tagout.
- Coordinate safe working practices with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and subcontractor supervisors.
- Help manage heat exposure, jobsite traffic, site access, emergency response, and public safety interfaces.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, document findings, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Track subcontractor noncompliance and escalate repeated or serious issues promptly.
- Maintain required training, inspection, safety meeting, incident, and corrective action records using existing processes.
- Exercise stop-work authority for imminent danger or serious violations.
- Support safe equipment energization, startup, commissioning, and turnover.
Compensation and benefits
Salary: $65,000–$85,000 per year.
- Medical, dental and vision benefits under the employer's stated 80/20 arrangement; plan and contribution details will be confirmed during hiring.
- Life insurance and a 401(k) retirement plan with a 3% employer match.
- 15 days of paid time off per April–March fiscal year, prorated as applicable; unused PTO does not roll over.
- Bereavement leave.
- Company-provided cell phone and iPad.
- Company truck / vehicle compensation arrangement accounted for within the stated salary package; specific terms will be confirmed by the employer.
